The Debate

What is argued about the Shroud, and by whom. Both sides, at full strength.

The record on the Shroud is agreed on more than people expect, and disputed on the things that matter most: how old the cloth is, how the image got there, and what, if anything, the Church says about it. These four pages give each argument its strongest case and the reply to it. Where the site labels a claim, the label follows the rule used everywhere here: Documented, Contested, Claimed, or Film.
